Pioneering an Approach to Integrated Continuous Bio-Manufacturing

Recent improvements of continuous upstream and downstream processes suggest their final integration into a single process stream. This webinar will present a series of experiments where a perfusion reactor with CHO cells for the production of a monoclonal antibody has been operated in the continuous mode and connected first to a two-column continuous protein A chromatographic unit for product capture and subsequentlyto a continuous two-column MCSGP unit for final polishing. During these experiments:
- Steady states are examined
- Use of simulation models for process design and control are illustrated
- Product quality is compared to corresponding classical batch operation
- Scale-up data from US manufacturer of mAb process for capture step are presented
